"She Was Afraid To Fly”, is a short drama about Mariposa, a very hip 65-year-old woman who is experiencing early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Her daughter, 35-year-old, Adriana is at the crossroads between frustration, and empathy for her mother’s condition. Everyday for the past 3 months, Adriana visits Mariposa after work. She cooks, cleans, and will spend time trying to help Mariposa remember simple tasks around the house. Their bond is like no other. As the months go by, Adriana finds herself exhausted from being the caretaker. One day they get into an argument, which lead to them not speaking. When Adriana returns, Mariposa had forgotten about it.
Afraid to lose her mother to this disease, she gives Mariposa the new LG V30 phone. She shows her all the helpful, and exciting features. Everyday afterwards, they record video, take photos, selfies included….documenting each, and every precious memory to be cherished forever.
